Darian held his right index finger aloft. "Dom." Left index finger. "Sub." Gesticulations, as appropriate. "The dom is like the director, the playwright, the game designer. They create the universe. But it's the sub who gets to play in it. And the sub's enjoyment is both enabled and constrained by what their universe role is able to do. A game would be - ironically - rather boring if you could do literally anything in the game world. If there were no rules, no constraints at all. But by carefully crafting such rules, such venues, such viewpoints and vignettes and vicariously constrained lines of engagement, the sub is able to better appreciate the universe through only having a given, lovingly cultivated perspective. So, yes. It's the dom's world. But it's the sub's life."
